Defending Class 1A state champion Resurrection produced a solid effort over the weekend in its final tune-up before region play begins this week.
The home-standing Eagles smacked St. Martin 15-1 on Saturday at the newly minted Lee Tingle Field in Pascagoula.
Resurrection banged out 14 hits in the winning four-inning attack, as the Eagles overcame an early 1-0 Yellow Jacket advantage by scoring two runs in the first frame and then adding four in the second stanza, three in the third inning and ending the game with six runs in the fourth.
Max Askew collected three hits, including a double, and produced a game-high five RBIs in the win, while Luke Schnoor shared game-high hit honors with three and drove in a pair of runs. Askew also scored three runs.
Walker Frederic blasted a home run and added two total hits and two RBIs, while Levi Foshee chipped in a pair of doubles and Cole Tingle had a pair of hits and drove in a pair of runs. Nicholas Watts also had a double, and San San Miguel drove in a run for RCS.
Tingle, one of three RCS pitchers, got the win as the trio that also consisted of Foshee and Sug Reynolds, held St. Martin to just two hits in the game.

Parker Dobson had a double for SMHS, while Lincoln Hust started on the mound for the Yellow Jackets and took the loss.
Resurrection has won four out of five games headed into Region 8-1A action which begins Thursday on the road at Lumberton.
St. Martin begins Region 8-7A play on Wednesday hosting Pascagoula. Both the aforementioned games were slated to take place Tuesday night, but were pushed back a day along with Gulfport at Biloxi, D’Iberville at Ocean Springs and Vancleave at East Central due to wet grounds.

The George County at Gautier game slated for Tuesday night has been postponed until April 18th.
Harrison Central at Hancock was still scheduled to be played Tuesday night, as was Long Beach at Picayune and West Harrison at Pearl River Central. In Region 7-5A, league play started last week and the four teams that comprise that league will play a home-and-home series over the next three weeks and then come back in the last two weeks of the regular season and face one another one more time each to complete a nine-game league schedule. Picayune, PRC, WHHHS and LBHS comprise that region.
However, in Region 8-5A, the four teams in that league will face the same opponent three times in the same week on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday to finish with a nine-game region slate as well. George Couty, Vancleave, East Central and Gautier round out that region. In Class 6A, both Region 8-6A and Region 7-6A will follow the same pattern as Region 8-5A wherein each team plays three region games in the same week against the same opponent to complete. nine-game region schedule. Region 8-6A is comprised of Gulfport, Biloxi, Hancock and Harrison central, while Region 7-6A consists of Pascagoula, Ocean Springs, St. Martin and D’Iberville.
