    Jackson-George Regional Library has something for everyone during the month of April. Check out the events that are happening at each branch location below.

    Peeps, Eggs, and More!

    HURLEY, MS __ Join us on April 4, 4:00 pm at East Central Public Library to create peeps, eggs, and more! We will make Easter theme garland. Materials and Light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the East Central Public Library. Please call 228-588-6263 to sign up!

    Easter Celebration with the Easter Bunny

    HURLEY, MS __ Bring your friends and family to the East Central Public Library on April 7 and 8, 10 am – 2 pm. Hop on down to have your picture taken with the Easter Bunny.

    Sketch with Me: Breaking Down Shapes

    HURLEY, MS __ Calling all adults! Bring your favorite sketching materials to the East Central

    Public Library on April 20th at 4 pm and practice sketching with Tina. She will guide you through the process of how to break images down into basic shapes. This can help you start your journey to see the world like an artist.

    Smashed Flower Cards

    HURLEY, MS __ Come to the East Central Public Library on April 25,  4 pm.  Ms. Rebecca will show us how to create beautiful cards for any occasion from broken flowers, ripped paper, and other art mediums. Materials and light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the East Central Public Library.

    1st Tuesday Homeschool S.T.E.A.M. Day

    GAUTIER, MS __ Join us for Homeschool S.T.E.A.M. on the first Tuesday of the month at 2 pm and meet with other local homeschool families to make Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math combine learning fun! These simple S.T.E.A.M. experiments are designed for multiple ages, so bring the whole family. Light refreshments are provided by the Gautier Friends of the Library.     3rd Thursday Brown Bag Bunco

    GAUTIER, MS __ Join every 3rd Thursday beginning April 20 with  “Brown Bag Bunco” and enjoy a fun-filled hour of Bunco; there is no cost! Bring a bag/box lunch and we will provide the drinks and desserts! This event is intended for adults 18 years and older.  Prizes and refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Library.  Please call the library for information at 228-497-4531 to sign up!

    Thursday Storytime with Mrs. Donna

    GAUTIER, MS __ Join us for Storytime with Mrs. Donna every Thursday at 10 a.m. We will enjoy music, crafts, and our favorite picture books.  Storytime is intended for children from preschool to kindergarten.

    2nd Thursday Crime Will Tell! A True Crime Club

    GAUTIER, MS __ The True Crime Club will meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Our group will focus on one well-known true crime case or criminal using a variety of materials and resources. Prior to the episode, the Gautier Friends of the Library will post a list of resources on their Facebook page. A copy of the resources can be found at the library or requested via email.     Easter Craft “Eggstravaganza”

    GAUTIER, MS __ Join us for this Easter Egg craft program.  April 6, 2 pm to decorate a wooden egg using various crafting supplies. This program is for those ages 12 and older. 

    Spring Into Coloring

    GAUTIER, MS __ Join us in the meeting room to unwind with an evening of coloring, relaxing music, and conversation on April 12 at 5:30 pm. This event is for adults 18 and older. Sign-up is suggested and snacks are provided by the Gautier Friends of the Library.

    Gautier Public Library’s Teen Advisory Group

    GAUTIER, MS __ Join us on April 18 at 1 pm at the Gautier Public Library (GPL) for the GPL Teen Advisory Group! Students in 6th – 12th grades are welcome. We will have food and fun; teens can receive volunteer hours! Call the library to register!

    LEGO Club Extends through April and May

    LUCEDALE, MS __ Let your children explore the limits of their imagination and utilize their creativity to build architectural Lego masterpieces. Lego Cub is extended through April and May, every other Saturday beginning April 8th 10 am.

    Annual Easter Egg Hunt

    LUCEDALE, MS __ Join us for Lucedale-George County Public Library Annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 1st at 10 am. Easter festivities, including snacks, story time in the meeting room, and an Easter egg hunt in Lucedale City Park! Bring your cameras. The Easter Bunny will be here! For children 12 and under!

    There’s More to the Story

    LUCEDALE, MS __ Join us for a “Lunch and Learn with Nancy Jo” on April 4th at 11:30 am.    Bring your brown bag lunch, have a seat, and learn about journalism with Nancy Jo Maples, writer for the George County Times. Drop in for a few minutes or take the hour to learn. There will also be a Q&A session for those burning questions that prospective journalists may have. This program is intended for ages 17 and up.

    Keeping Backyard Chickens

    LUCEDALE, MS __ Lucedale-George County Public Library presents its children’s program, “Keeping Backyard Chickens”  Easter craft, on April 6, 202, at 4 pm.  Patrons 12 and under are welcome; under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.  Presenter Ann Howard will teach these young patrons how to care for backyard chickens. Ann Howard has been with the Farm Bureau/ Mississippi Federation of Women in Agriculture for five years and has worked for the Mississippi State Extension Services for eighteen years.     Galaxy Painting Youth Program

    Storytime with Author Yashekia Felder Matthews,

    “I’m Not Bad! I Just Want Attention” 

    PASCAGOULA, MS __ Join us for a book reading session by the co-Authors Yashekia & Isaiah Matthew, “I’m Not BAD! I Just Want Attention.”  on Thursday, April 6, at 4:30p at Family Education Center, 3524 Prentiss Avenue, Moss Point.

    This inspiring children’s book about self-esteem, emotions, and kindness was co-written with her son Isaiah.  Please bring your copy to be autographed.  Autographed copies are available for purchase at the event.

    Storytime Tuesdays @ MP’s Family Education Center 

    MOSS POINT, MS __ Pre-schoolers and families, join us for storytime every Tuesday at 10 am at the Moss Point School District’s Family Education Center (FEC)  located at 3524 Prentiss Ave. Enjoy stories in the library vault and a craft.

    Lap Sit Storytime with Ms. Mo!  

    OCEAN SPRINGS, MS __ The Ocean Springs Municipal Library presents special story times every Tuesday, beginning February 7th at 11 am through the month of May at the Mary C.     Sit! Stay! Read!@ the library?

    PASCAGOULA, MS __ Join the fun! 3rd Saturdays, 12-2 pm for Join us for Visiting Pet Teams of South Mississippi! Read Stories to Pets! “Sit! Stay! Read!” To help improve their reading skills, children read one-on-one to licensed pet therapy dogs! Dogs enable kids to tackle the serious issue of childhood illiteracy in a fun way. Because pets accept people without conditions, children are free of the stress of judgments and expectations. Children must be accompanied by parent, grandparent, or adult guardian.

    Pascagoula Lego Club

    PASCAGOULA, MS __ Come let your children explore the limits of their imagination and utilize their creativity to build architectural Lego masterpieces the last Tuesday of the month at 4pm.  Legos provided by the library; inspiration provided by you.     Meet Author, Johnnie Bernhard, “Hannah and Ariela”

    ST. MARTIN, MS __ April 21, 10 am – 12 pm Meet and Greet Johnnie Bernhard, author “Hannah and Ariela”.   Bernhard, A former English teacher and journalist, Johnnie Bernhard has always been a lover of reading and writing. Come to the library and join Johnnie to hear about her latest book, Hannah and Ariela – a resilient and suspenseful novel about human trafficking. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the St. Martin Public Library.

    St. Martin Lego Club

    Stanger Things Escape Room 

    VANCLEAVE, MS __ On April 5th, join us at the Vancleave library for the Stranger Things Escape Room.  The Upside Down is open again, and this time Eleven is the one trapped inside.
