Whether you are looking for a daylong family outing, a camping location or a special event nestled among the trees along the flowing Escatawpa River, Presley’s Outing is your one-stop location.

Since the early 1960s, Presley’s Outing has welcomed families to the 100-acre site located approximately two miles north of Interstate 10 and only a mile west of the Alabama state line. The Presley family purchased the property in 1959 and discovered it was the perfect spot for the growing demand for outdoor recreation.

“More than 60 years later, it remains family-owned and operated,” said Lynn Presley, son of original owners W. L. and Anna Presley, who is now continuing the family tradition alongside his 96-year-old mother. “Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or just spending the day outdoors, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”

The outdoor location is on Goodes Mill Lake that is fed by the cool black waters of the Escatawpa River. It is accessible by boaters passing through, but it caters to visitors arriving by automobile. Its history includes hosting weddings, church picnics, company employee picnics and more.

Today it features a full-service RV campground, swimming area, picnicking, fishing, boating, kayaking, frisbee golf, basketball and sand volleyball. It also has an air-conditioned and heated public bath house and laundry facilities.

An added summertime amenity is the Boathouse Restaurant that features some of the “famous” Presley family recipes.

“The Presley family grew up enjoying W.L. Presley’s famous barbecue recipes, and today the restaurant offers that same homemade flavor and welcoming atmosphere.” Presley said. “It’s the perfect place for campers and day visitors to relax after spending the day on the water.”

A local favorite at the Boathouse is Friday Night Steak Night that features a 20 oz. smoked ribeye steak served with Boathouse potatoes, steamed broccoli and green beans, and Texas toast. Other menu options and operating hours can be found here.

Not only is Presley’s Outing a great option for secluded outdoor fun, the Presley family has kept its original policies in place and has kept it affordable for families. Weekday prices are $5 for adults and $3 for children with children 5 and under free.  The same holds true for the weekend with adult admission at $10 and children $5.  The venue opens at 8 a.m. and closes at dusk.

“To help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests, no alcohol is permitted on property,” he said. “Dogs are welcome but must weigh 20 pounds or less, remain on a leash at all times, and owners are required to clean up after them.”

Presley said this property and its memories were inherited from his parents, and he is proud to be sharing it with his children and grandchildren.

“I grew up at Presley’s Outing, so this place has always been home to me. My parents taught me the value of hard work here, but they also gave me a childhood filled with unforgettable memories of swimming, boating, skiing, and spending time with family and friends,” Presley said. “I’ve been blessed to share those same experiences with my children and now my grandchildren, and that’s what makes Presley’s Outing so special to me.”

On property, the speed limit is 10 mph. There are 118 camp sites available year-round that feature electrical connections, internet, trash collection, and more.
