Trailhead Bike and Bed is a hidden gem for anyone traveling through the northeast corner of Mississippi.
This lodge-style hotel is located in Houston, one of our state’s small towns with a large heart. The welcoming, comfortable inn is an oasis of rest for those traversing the Tanglefoot Trail that runs 44 miles from Houston to New Albany. But Trailhead Bike and Bed is much more than just a lodge for those hiking or biking the trails.
With its grounds gated and secured for privacy, Trailhead Bike and Bed offers guests four spacious and beautifully decorated rooms, with one room providing total handicap access. The hotel is pet-friendly, and each studio-style room has two queen-size beds, a private bath, cable TV, and WiFi access.
In addition to these four rooms, Trailhead Bike and Bed also has three available RV hookup sites. All guests are welcome to use the facility’s outdoor amenities.
According to owner Millette Morgan Nabors, these outdoor features are the drawing card for family reunions, group retreats, engagements/wedding parties, as well as various other business and private events she has booked at Trailhead Bike and Bed.
And those amenities are wonderful, including a laundry room, grill, outdoor games, jacuzzi, and a full-service kitchen with unique bicycle bar stools. The multiple ceiling fans, various tables, and comfy couches and chairs spread throughout the large, covered patio provide the perfect space for resting, visiting, or celebrating.
In fact, on a recent trip to Trailhead Bike and Bed, my sister and I gathered around the large gas fire pit for a cozy, late-night visit with other guests from our sister state of Alabama. As usual with most Mississippians, it did not take us long to find some life connections and make new friends.
Friendships are the heart of Trailhead Bike and Bed, and Nabors cultivates those connections with her grace and hospitality. She went out of her way to make our visit and the visits of our new Alabama friends as perfect as possible.
Highlighting her love for fostering friendships, Nabors showed us the large U.S. map displayed in Trailhead’s outdoor kitchen. With colorful pins marking the home of every guest, the map showed visitors from almost every state in the nation.
Like Nabors herself, the map was instant proof of the Mississippi spirit of hospitality found inside the gates of Trailhead Bike and Bed.
