Christmas with the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, one of the holiday season’s most festive and enjoyable events, will take place this Saturday, December 14, at the Tupelo High School Performing Arts Center.

This highly anticipated annual performance has long been considered one of the state’s finest Christmas programs. It is truly a treat for music lovers of all ages.

Under the direction of Steven Byess, this year’s orchestra presentation will also feature the choruses of Itawamba Community College and Northeast Mississippi Community College, as well as the voices of the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra’s Children’s Chorus.

Attendees to this elegant presentation can expect to hear a variety of their favorite holiday music, as well as new versions of some old Christmas classics. It is sure to be a show with a little bit of Christmas joy for everyone.

To increase the opportunities to enjoy this holiday happiness, the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra is offering two shows this year. The first performance is a matinee that will begin Saturday at 4 p.m., with the evening show slated to start at 7:30 p.m.

For those throughout the state who might not be completely familiar with the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, it was first formed in 1971 and brings together the stellar talents of musicians from places throughout the South, including Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and Arkansas. For over 50 years now, it has stood out as one of the nation’s finest (and rarest) professional orchestras from a city as small as Tupelo, Mississippi.

Amazingly, the orchestra’s Christmas presentation is only a part of the company’s annual concert series. Through generous donor support, the symphony strives to provide community outreach programs to make music available to people of all ages, races, and backgrounds. They achieve this goal through in-school music curriculum and free concerts, including musical programs geared toward individuals with special needs.

Please come out and support this gifted group of musicians this weekend as they present Christmas with the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, on Saturday, December 14, at the Tupelo High School Performing Arts Center.

Tickets are $35 for all adults and are available online at nmsymphony.com, along with information on the orchestra’s 2025 calendar.

And here’s a brand-new gift from the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra for the 2024 holiday season:

Students and children will get in for free at the Christmas concerts.  To receive this free admission, each student must present a valid student ID.

Truly, Christmas with the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra will be a night of celebration and fun for everyone. See you there!

(Please remember that the Tupelo Public School District adheres to a clear bag policy.)
