Multiple high school bowling teams from across the state have been competing in the 2025 MHSAA State Bowling Championships this week (January 29-31) at Fannin Lanes in Flowood, Mississippi. From Thursday through Friday, the top high school bowlers from the North and South divisions of our state have battled it out for this prestigious title.
Though some Mississippi high schools have had bowling years, bowling is a relatively new school-sanctioned sport for athletes at smaller schools. Even so, it is quickly becoming one of the state’s best loved sports. And some of the state’s smallest schools are making a big mark in this sport.
But instead of the 7 Divisions of competition in other state-sanctioned sports such as baseball, football, and basketball, high schools bowling teams are still divided according to size of student population within 3 Classes.
So now, with the 2025 Regional Round behind them, 16 teams (8 boys’ teams and 8 girls’ teams) advanced from each division, Class I, Class II, and Class III. And these 48 teams of competitors headed to Flowood with one goal in mind – bringing home the one of the 6 coveted gold championship trophies for their school.

As an interesting sidenote, all but one of last year’s 6 championship teams returned to defend their state title. The 2024 MHSAA State Bowling Champions were:
Class I Girls – Kossuth High School
Class I Boys – Kossuth High School
Class II Girls – Long Beach High School
Class II Boys – Hancock High School
Class III Girls – Desoto Central High School
Class III Boys – Northwest Rankin High School.
But only three of those returning championship teams managed a repeat.
On Wednesday, January 29, D’Iberville Boys and Ocean Springs Girls won the 2025 MHSAA Class III State Bowling Championships.
Then, on Thursday, January 30, the 2025 Class I Bowling State Championships trophies were awarded to Kossuth Boys, as well as Kossuth Girls.
And finally, on Friday, January 31, Hancock Boys and Cleveland Central Girls took home the gold for the 2025 Class II Bowling State Championships.
