It is one thing to talk about trash. It is another to try and make a point about why it matters. That was and continues to be the goal of my good friend Dr. Judy Dalgo, an avid outdoor enthusiast who decided to do something about it. Judy has been a trash collector for 20 years – picking up trash washed up on the Ocean Springs beach where she strolls to enjoy the view. And that is her point about trash – it destroys the view.
Art certainly is everywhere in Mississippi, and that fact is made abundantly clear through the many beautiful and breathtaking public art that can be experienced through some of the most prominent art walks in the state.
The Lauren Rogers Museum and the city of Laurel are amid a celebration that has been a century in the making. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the world-class museum of art has been a cornerstone for Laurel and the state and has brought a collection of fine art and education together for the world to enjoy.

Karah Younger has always shown a talent for art. With encouragement from family and friends to practice her passion, she has gained experience over the years pursue her passions been interested in art. After starting on a few different education paths, she has finally found the one that best suits her background and career interests. She has also been able to pivot her craft during this difficult time to expand her style and commissions.

The Fine Arts Gallery at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jackson County Campus announces the opening of the exhibit “ZENOSYNE,” featuring the 3-D ceramic work of Josh Edgar. The show will open on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 12:15 p.m., with a reception and artist talk in the Fine Arts Gallery.
In celebration of the natural connection between birding and photography, the Pascagoula River Audubon Center will host the 2019 Audubon Photography Awards Traveling Exhibition at 5107 Arthur Street between January 8 and January 29. Visitors of all ages will enjoy a display of the winning photos as well as learn more about local birdlife in Moss Point. Reproductions of the winning photos will be available for sale.
The MGCCC Jackson County Fine Arts Gallery is proud to announce the opening of the exhibit “Drawn To Whimsy: The World of Edgar Parker.” The exhibit is offered at no charge and will be open to the public from until Friday, December 13.
A community art gallery opening will be held at the Pascagoula River Audubon Center on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. to formally introduce Solange Ledwith to the community and display some of her artwork. The theme is “Work and Play,” and many of her pieces will be available for purchase.

Summer Baldwin of Ocean Springs has been awarded a $4,000 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC).
