Sarah Bailey Thomas, one of Pascagoula’s favorite daughters, was home again the evening of July 16. Before a packed crowd of over 350 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Sarah was the keynote speaker for the 27th Annual Boys and Girls Club of Jackson County Steak and Steak Dinner.

Reflecting on July’s Golden Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing reminds me of Mississippi Gulf Coast native and famed rocket man Fred Haise.

Over the years, I have mentioned my father several times in my column. That obviously speaks to the deep love I had for him and for the difference he made in my life.

Starting on or around August 1, all the fields in the Tucker Street area will begin to be demolished, as part of a master plan by the City of Pascagoula to create a new, state-of-the-art youth baseball complex in that part of town.

What some may not remember and many may not know is that the 1968 PHS baseball team also won the state title, giving ‘Goula a rare back-to-back champion honor.
