The Pascagoula Athletic Hall of Fame was created in 2015 with the intent of honoring the highest achieving athletes and coaches who have passed through the playing fields and courts of Pascagoula High School and Carver High School throughout the years. The latest class, number six, was inducted at a gala event that took place at the Hilton Garden Inn ballroom on the night of June 14.

But for those who have not found time or opportunity to fish with the children they love, the Mississippi Department of wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) offers an entire slate of youth fishing rodeos for the kids in our state.

Swimming is a popular and beneficial activity for the summer. It’s a great way to beat the heat, stay active, and enjoy the outdoors. Swimming offers numerous health benefits, including improved cardiovascular fitness, increased muscle strength, and enhanced flexibility, as well as a refreshing way to spend time with family and friends. It is also a growing competitive sport in Mississippi for student-athletes of all ages.

In case you are unfamiliar with the history behind NEMCABB, it all started in December of 1989 at an ICC Baseball Clinic, the college’s first annual camp, actually. Several area baseball coaches discussed the need for their best senior baseball players from North Mississippi to garner more scouting exposure and recognition, outside the statewide all-star games already held annually in Jackson.

Let’s talk about the infamous bucket list!

Yep, we all have one, whether we officially put it in writing or keep it to ourselves. Everyone has things they’ve never done but would love to do – one day.

On Tuesday, April 22, the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) and Mississippi Association of Coaches (MAC) announced the high school winners of this year’s prestigious Miss Softball and Mr. Baseball. Presented by C spire, 14 recipients, one female and one male athlete from each of the seven MHSAA classifications, were recognized for distinct excellence in their sport.

Say the name Larry McKay to anyone in North Mississippi, and the first word that comes up for discussion is basketball. If the discussion continues, talk of Baldwyn High School invariably comes up – Baldwyn Bearcat championship basketball, to be precise.
