The 2026 winners of C Spire’s prestigious Miss Basketball and Mr. Basketball were officially announced on Wednesday, February 18, by the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) and the Mississippi Association of Coaches (MAC). Representing the seven MHSAA classifications, these 14 elite Mississippi high school athletes were recognized for distinct excellence in the sport of basketball.

The 2026 Miss Basketball winners are listed by their high school’s MSHSAA classification:

    • 1A – Daylen Grisham, Ingomar High School
    • 2A – Mariyah Farrell, Heidelberg High School
    • 3A – Lamaya Southward, Booneville High School
    • 4A – Kazli Timbes, Tishomingo County High School
    • 5A – Kayllis Walker, Laurel High School
    • 6A – Shamira Morton, Canton High School
    • 7A – Jada Gay, Starkville High School.

This year marks the second consecutive Miss Basketball award for Shamira Morton of Canton High School, making her the only 2026 repeat winner. But two high schools reclaimed the Miss Basketball title this year, with Daylen Grisham keeping the award at Ingomar High School, where it had remained for the past three years with Macie Phifer. And Meg Moore previously garnered the award for Tishomingo County High School in 2025.

The 2026 Mr. Basketball winners are also listed by their high school’s MSHSAA classification:

    • 1A – Jon Grey Morrisson, West Union High School
    • 2A – Zion Grant, Pelahatchie High School
    • 3A – Wilson McDonald, Alcorn Central High School
    • 4A – Landon Hall, Pass Christian High School
    • 5A – Mike Hood, Columbus High School
    • 6A – Blake Nettles, Pascagoula High School
    • 7A – Sam Funches, Germantown High School.

All of the seven athletes receiving the award for 2026 Mr. Basketball are actually first-time title winners. But Jon Grey Morrisson of West Union High School was also awarded the honor of Mr. Baseball last year in MSHSAA’s 1A classification.

According to the MHSAA website (www.misshsaa.com), each of the 14 high school athletes named as Miss Basketball and Mr. Basketball will be recognized on March 2-7, during the 2026 Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Big House Classic MHSAA State Championships at the Mississippi Coliseum. (A schedule of the upcoming Big House Classic can also be found on the MHSAA website, along with options for viewing the state tournament.)

Plus, a special awards luncheon in honor of these amazing high school recipients will take place on March 10, at the MHSAA Conference Center. For more information, go to the NFHS Network (nfhsnetwork.com) on that date to watch a live stream of the 2026 Miss Basketball and Mr. Basketball awards luncheon.
