While most football fans spent the week planning their food spread for Super Bowl Sunday, more than 50 business students, faculty and staff from The University of Southern Mississippi were in the heart of the action—working behind the scenes at the biggest sporting event of the year: Super Bowl LIX.

Multiple high school bowling teams from across the state have been competing in the 2025 MHSAA State Bowling Championships this week (January 29-31) at Fannin Lanes in Flowood, Mississippi. From Thursday through Friday, the top high school bowlers from the North and South divisions of our state have battled it out for this prestigious title.

The Mississippi Horse Park and Starkville Rotary Club again have been honored with the Justin Boots Best Footing Award for the exceptional ground during the 2024 Rotary Rodeo. It was selected by the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association for having the best footing in 2024 out of 57 rodeos held in the Southeastern Circuit which includes Mississippi and eight other states—Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

High school football season is winding down across Mississippi. However, the end of regular season play merely signals the beginning round of the state championship playoffs.

The Sanderson Farms Championship 2024 kicked off September 29, 2024 and will run through October 6, 2024. It will take place at The County Club of Jackson.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will hold its annual Clem Dellenger Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the scenic Hickory Hill Country Club in Gautier.
