2024 En Plein Air Competition LeFleur’s Bluff State Park includes even more artists, coming in from all parts of Mississippi for this year’s competition. This event, brought to you by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks and Pacesetter Gallery, will showcase 44 talented Mississippi artists as they paint LeFleur’s Bluff State Park competing for publication in Mississippi Wildlife magazine and cash prizes.

The Hattiesburg Pocket Museum Alley has a new installation, Hattiesburg’s Rainbow Bridge.  “Our Rainbow Bridge is a place to honor and recognize our four-legged family members,” said Rick Taylor, Executive Director of the Hattiesburg Convention Commission, which oversees and manages the Hattiesburg Pocket Museum alley.  People are encouraged to attach their pets’ tags and collars to the rail of the bridge to memorialize them and remember their love. 

The 8th annual Renaissance Fest will be presiding at the Hattiesburg Zoo on Feb. 24-25. The royal festival is exciting as it marks the beginning of the Spring season for the Hattiesburg Zoo and the Hub City. The weekend will be filled with events, harkening back to the Renaissance era, with something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Theresa Bush, assistant professor of costume design at The University of Southern Mississippi’s (USM) Theatre program, housed in the School of Performing and Visual Arts, serves as associate designer for “A Wonderful World,” a new Broadway musical about the life and loves of jazz legend Louis Armstrong, beginning its pre-Broadway performances this week in New Orleans.
