Our Star-Spangled Cleanup is an annual event that takes place the week after Independence Day on the beaches of the Mississippi Gulf Coast! This event started in 2017 on the beaches of Harrison, Jackson, and Hancock County. With growing interest and donations from our wonderful sponsors, we hope to keep our wonderful beaches clean!

HUGE thank you to our sponsors for making this event possible!!

    2021 Star-Spangled Cleanup Details

Volunteers have two options this year to contribute to the Star-Spangled Cleanup – 1) Volunteers can register to participate in the event scheduled for Saturday, July 10th from 8 AM to 10 AM at various locations across the Mississippi coast; 2) Volunteers can Request a Bin of Supplies they can use to cleanup wherever they choose throughout the week following Independence Day festivities to cleanup firework debris from our beaches.

Option 1: Attend the Star-Spangled Cleanup event – Saturday, July 10th, 2021 from 8 AM to 10 AM

Much like our previous events, this event will take place at various cleanup locations across the Mississippi Coast. Volunteers that would like to participate in this morning event should register themselves/group for a cleanup site where they will meet with the Site Captain to get supplies in efforts to clean that beach area. Bring friends and family to make it fun! Data collection is easier with extra helping hands. This event is a hot one! Please make sure you wear sun protection and bring water.

    Cleanup Site Locations

    1. Point Park in Pascagoula

    2. Front Beach OS Yacht Club end in Oceans Springs

    3. Front Beach Harbor end in Ocean Springs

    4. Deer Island with Twisted Tiki Tours *NEW* See information about the island site below. Limited space available!

    5. Biloxi Lighthouse Beach in Biloxi

    6. Biloxi Beach Boardwalk at Comfort Station east of Sharkheads in Biloxi

    7. Edgewater Mall Beach in Biloxi

    8. Ken Combs Pier Beach in Gulfport

    9. Jones Park Beach with the MS Aquarium in Gulfport

    10. Long Beach Harbor Beach east of Comfort Station in Long Beach

Option 2: Request a Bin of Supplies **CLOSED**

If you are familiar with our year-round Request a Bin initiative, this is just like it! Volunteers register to grab a bin of supplies from our office and use at any location they desire. During registration you will provide contact information, number of volunteers we need to pack the bin for, and let us know what date you will come by to get your bin. These supplies are provided for volunteers to use throughout the week following Independence Day (July 5th-9th) in efforts to remove firework debris from the beach before it is washed away, blown into the ocean, or forgotten.

    — What does the supply bin consist of?  In the bin you receive: trash bags, various sizes of gloves, first aid kit, hand sanitizer, buckets, trash grabbers, and data collection kits (clipboards, pencils, data cards).

    — Bin pick ups have concluded. If you are still interested in getting supplies, please contact the Program Coordinator to get a bin.
