What in the world is the Froglevel Festival? Even better yet, where and when does it take place, because with a name like that, it must be fun. Right?

Right! The Froglevel Festival is always a day of family-friendly fun, and the small North Mississippi community of Pratt is the proud host of this annual event. Officially sponsored by the Pratt Community Development Club, this year’s Froglevel Festival had a little (well, significant) weather hiccup with its originally planned date. It was rescheduled and is set for this Saturday, June 27, with festivities beginning at 8 a.m. and the fun lasting until noon.

Actually, 2026 marks the 39th year that this beloved event has taken place in the small community of Pratt, which is located off Highway 45, between the towns of Baldwyn and Guntown, Mississippi. For those unfamiliar with this community, the friendly folks of Pratt will ensure that newcomers will want to come back again and again.

Attendees at the festival on Saturday, June 27, will be able to browse and enjoy the food trucks and various vendors from start to finish, as well as these specific events scheduled throughout the morning:

8 a.m. – Car Show, with prizes awarded in multiple categories.

9 a.m. – Kids’ games, as well as the annual Frog Box Decoration Contest.

10 a.m. until Noon – Live Music, featuring local artists.

Noon – Frog Race (All contestants must bring their own frog!)

Yep, you heard that correctly: Bring your own frog! This race is the Main Event of the Froglevel Festival, the stuff that childhood memories and lifetime legends are made of.

In fact, the festival organizers shared childhood stories with The Baldwyn News about waking up early on Saturday mornings of past festivals to catch a frog and name it for entry in that day’s frog race.

“For 39 years, this festival has created cherished memories for our community families,” explained the organizers. “These memories have turned into stories we tell our grandkids, out-of-town friends, and even a stranger we are sitting next to while waiting on our next appointment in life.”

So, go ahead and hunt for a festival-worthy frog now. Make it a family event. Get the kids involved. Find (and name) your family’s frog. Who knows? You might just have the winner of this year’s race and proudly claim the title of the 2026 Pratt Community Froglevel Festival Champion – and the legendary story to share about that win for a lifetime.
