Resurrection is returning to the Class 1A South State championship series for the third consecutive season.
The defending state champs dispatched Enterprise-Lincoln Friday night 7-4 just outside of Brookhaven to wrap up a two-game sweep in the third round of the Class 1A South State playoffs. The Eagles have now won 15 straight games.
Resurrection, coming off a 5-2 win at home over the YellowJackets on Tuesday, wasted no time in maintaining that momentum jumping out to a quick 6-0 lead in their first at bat.
Justin San Miguel, Jesus San Miguel, Cole Tingle, Luke Schnoor, Nicholas Watts and Carter McCammon all drove in a run apiece in the eventful first frame for RCS. Levi Foshee added an RBI-single in the sixth to close out the scoring for the Eagles. Tingle and Walker Frederic each tallied two hits apiece to lead the 11-hit RCS winning attack, while Justin San Miguel had a double.
Tingle was the standout of the game for RCS, not only with his two hits and an RBI at the plate but he tossed a complete game to pick up the win on the mound as well as he six hits and struck out seven while walking three.

In his senior season at RCS, Tingle, pitching against some of the schools in larger classifications as well as his own Class 1A, has struck out 67 batters and walked just 17 and he has registered a .423 batting average with 30 RBIs.
The Eagles now await the winner of the other Class 1A South State semifinal match-up that has Taylorsville up 1-0 on Ethel. Game two was set for Saturday and a third game if needed would be on Monday.
In the first game of the series, on Tuesday, Defending Class 1A state champion Resurrection dispatched Enterprise Lincoln 6-2 in Pascagoula, as the Eagles jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead after two innings and held on for the win. Jesus San Miguel played a key role in several different capacities for RCS in the win, as he drove in three runs at the plate with a double and a pop out and he also came in with one out and the bases loaded in the top of the seventh and earned a save on the hill for the Eagles. In that game, Tingle had a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in a run for RCS
Resurrection is set to host game one in the Class 1A South State finals as early as Tuesday. Resurrection knocked off Biggersville in two straight games last year to capture the first-ever state baseball championship in school history.
In Class 3A play, St. Stanislaus traveled to Seminary on Saturday for game two of that series as well with the Rocks up 1-0 in that match-up.
