PASCAGOULA, MS — Mark your calendars for Oct 2, 2026 from 4-7.  The La Pointe-Krebs House and Museum is bringing its annual fundraiser directly to the historic waterfront grounds it supports. The upcoming event, “Cattails & Cocktails on Krebs Lake,” will pull double duty as a vital community fundraiser and a dual celebration marking America’s 250th and the La Pointe-Krebs House’s incredible 269th birthday.

As the oldest standing structure in the entire Mississippi Valley, the museum grounds will offer an immersive backdrop for an unforgettable day of living history, live music, and deep community roots.

“We are incredibly excited to bring this event home to our historic grounds,” said the interim director “By gathering directly at the museum, our supporters can physically connect with the history they are helping to preserve. This year is also a momentous occasion to publicly thank some very special guests for an incredibly generous donation that ensures this historic treasure continues to thrive.”

    Event Highlights Include:

    • Living History & Colonial Crafts: Interactive demonstrations presented by the History Museum of Mobile, including historic tabby and bousillage making, pit sawing, colonial trade crafts, and special appearances by “Hugo Krebs.”
    • Live Music: Performances by Rick Cosman and the One A-Chord vocal ensemble of MGCCC Jackson County, under the direction of Kate Sawyer.
    • Vintage Style Showcase: An exclusive lakeside display of beautiful antique cars, all dating pre-1950.
    • Tasting & Traditions: A $25 Heritage Society reception featuring a wine and beer tasting.
    • Descendant Reunion: A La Pointe-Krebs Family Reunion and Descendant Roll Call featuring a massive family tree map and group photos.
    • Leave Your Mark: Guests can preview upcoming new building plans and purchase an engraved walkway brick to become a permanent part of the museum’s physical history.

The event will also pull double duty as the official packet pickup location for the Pascagoula River Paddle Battle kayakers. Online ticket sales for a massive Wine & Liquor Raffle Basket are also set to launch ahead of the event.

Members of the press are invited to attend. Interview and photo opportunities with museum leadership, living history reenactors, and descendants will be available.

For more information, to purchase event tickets, or to order an engraved brick, visit lapointekrebs.org or follow the museum on Facebook, Instagram and other social media using #LaPointeKrebs.
