Ghost Ship (Gautier)
The St. Christopher, a 149-foot-long ship built in 1932 in the Netherlands, was docked in Pascagoula when it was pushed west to Gautier by Hurricane Georges in 1998. Hurricane Katrina struck in August 2005 and pushed the vessel farther back.
Local teenagers have fabricated the story that it was a ship full of Nazis coming up the river when a storm washed it ashore and alligators ate the crew. If you go out there at night, they say, you can see dead crewman floating in the bayou.
