The Halloween season is about to get a lot more spooky, frightfully fabulous, and fun this weekend on the Gulf Coast as the city of Ocean Springs will be overtaken by a bevy of merry-making witches and warlocks. On Oct. 28, the Witches Ride of Ocean Springs will roll through the downtown district, bringing plenty of excitement and Halloween fun you do not want to miss.

Witches and warlocks are parading through the city in their finest witchy All Hallow’s Eve attire riding their “broomcycles” through the streets to greet all guests and goblins in attendance. The Witches Ride of Ocean Springs has been invading the area since 2018, but all the mischief and mayhem is done for an excellent cause. The event proceeds are donated to local animal welfare organizations to help improve the lives of animals in the area. Since its inception, the organization has donated over $30,000 to local animal welfare groups and agencies.

Witches’ Rides have grown in popularity nationwide over the last 30 years. These events offer a fun way to bring communities together for a fun time while also offering a philanthropic opportunity to accompany the whimsy of the event. It has become a very popular event for many organizations to establish fundraising opportunities to help benefit charitable organizations and communities. They also bring a lot of fun to the Halloween season.

The Inner Coven of the Witches Ride of Ocean Springs is led by President Stephanie Pendleton, one of the founding members of the organization. She was inspired to help found the organization by the idea shared by a dear friend and her love of all things furry.

Vice President Haven Lyons is a lifelong resident of Ocean Springs and a second-year coven member. She brings a love of all things witchy and magical to the group. Diana Odom is secretary for the Witches Ride of Ocean Springs. She is the newest coven member, joining the group this year. She brings an affection for the fall holidays and our animal friends.

The Witches Ride of Ocean Springs will be an evening of high-flying fun as the witchy participants walk or ride on their broom-cycles or carefully disguised golf carts through the beautiful, historic downtown area of Ocean Springs. To add more fun and competition to the event, the ride awards participants for Best Performance (Cackle or another witchy/magical talent), Best Costume, Best Themed Group, Best Broom Contest, and Best Golf Cart.

Guests are encouraged to don their most original, spooky, scary, or fun costumes and come downtown this weekend to catch many treats and participate in all the fun and excitement. Over 500 bedazzled and ghoulish witches and wizards will fly down the street in this fabulous, family-friendly event. It is an excellent event for everyone in the family to enjoy. The theme for the sixth edition of this enjoyable event is Madam Magique’s Cirque du Curiosities. It promises to be an event with lots of high-flying and fantastical fun. The witches fly at 5:30 p.m. Don’t be late, or you might miss a perfect time.

The Witches Ride of Ocean Springs will also host the Halloween Pub Crawl in the downtown district from 4-10 p.m. Guests are invited to fly down to Mosaic to enjoy an evening of fun, music and dancing, delicious food, and spirited drinks. It is stated that “Witches and watchers have been gathering here from the very beginning.”
There will be six total bars participating in the Pub Crawl, including Mosaic, the Red Apple Lounge, Glorybound, Lady May, Neon Moon, and Lost Spring. There will be delightfully spooky drink specials at each location to ensure everyone has a hauntingly good time.

Come join in on all the ghoulish and ghastly fun at the Witches Ride of Ocean Springs. It will be an evening full of just a few tricks and plenty of treats. Grab your best hat and broom and enjoy all the Halloween hijinks.
