POPLARVILLE — Poplarville City Park’s splash pad has opened earlier than usual this year, offering local families a place for children to cool off and play.
The splash pad typically opens closer to Memorial Day and the end of the school year, but city officials chose to open it earlier this season.
City Superintendent Heath Smith said the earlier opening gives families another outdoor option as warmer weather arrives.
The splash pad first opened in August 2015, according to the Picayune Item. This year marks its 11th year of operation, providing children of all ages a place to play and spend time outdoors during the summer.
The splash pad is open daily from 7 a.m. until dusk.
