The Long Beach Radish Festival will return April 18 with vendors, food and entertainment celebrating the city’s agricultural past.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. near City Hall and will feature farmers, artisans, food vendors, local artists and live entertainment. Organizers say the event is designed to highlight the city’s agricultural roots while supporting local businesses.
Visitors will also find radish-inspired foods, including radish chips — a snack once served in local bars.
The Long Beach Radish Festival began in 1991. In the early 20th century, Long Beach was known as a major center for radish farming. Large quantities of radishes were grown and shipped from the area, earning the city the nickname the “Radish Capital of the World.”
Organizers say the festival aims to celebrate that history while bringing residents and visitors together for a family-friendly spring event downtown.
Vendors, artists and community groups will take part in the event. Organizers are also seeking additional vendors and sponsors.
