The cryptocurrency community seems to be growing by the day, and one Mississippi casino looks to capitalize on that.
The Scarlet Pearl Casino in D’Iberville will be the first casino along the Mississippi Gulf Coast to offer a cryptocurrency ATM machine to customers, according to CEO LuAnn Pappas.
Pappas told the Gulf Coast Business Council during their October meeting that the casino has seen a younger crowd over the last few years, and in order to stay up to par with casinos in Las Vegas that already offer cryptocurrency ATM machines, this type of technology is imperative.
The machines allow customers to convert crypto coin into cash.
If you’re not familiar with what cryptocurrency is, NerdWallet does a good job of putting the concept in layman’s terms, comparing it to “arcade tokens.”
“You’ll need to exchange real currency for cryptocurrency to access the good or service (that the company is offering).”
Currently, more than 1 in 10 Americans have invested in cryptocurrency over the past year.
