Pascagoula is a community with “absolute potential,” new City Manager Michael Silverman said.

Mayor Phil Torjusen announced today that the city of Gautier has been awarded $2.5 million in federal funding assistance by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to improve water quality and environmental infrastructure.

The second Annual Hancock County Parade of Homes is set for Saturday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The parade, which is free and open to the public, will feature homes for sale throughout Hancock County.

On Saturday, March 7, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Junior Auxiliary of Gulfport will host the second annual “Beach Day at the Wheel Way” at the Long Beach Harbor. This free event brings the community together to support children with disabilities and their families. Attendees will enjoy activities the whole family can enjoy, live entertainment and light refreshments, all provided by support from local businesses.

Singing River Electric and Cooperative Energy recently donated a collective $5,000 to Jackson County FABLAB to host two STEM education summer camps in 2020.

Well, we had quite a day at the Pascagoula Kiwanis Club on January 21. The long-time local civic club held a Past Presidents Day to honor those who had served in that capacity over the years, and it was a wonderful moment for those guys and gals, as well as for the club itself.

The Willis H. Lott Learning Resources Center (LRC) at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Perkinston Campus has partnered with the Mississippi Humanities Council to host a family literacy program. The weekly programs will be held on the second floor of LRC each Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., from Jan. 28 to March 10.
