It’s “eggsactly” that time of year again –the time for all Mississippi children to grab their Easter baskets (and their favorite adults) and head out to their favorite Mississippi State Park.
Why?
Well … first of all, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks loves to have families come and enjoy all the wonderful, natural beauty that each of our state’s parks has to offer.
Plus, the Easter Bunny also loves our beautiful state and its hospitable people. So, he cordially invites you to “hop” on in to some Easter fun this weekend. Yep, the Easter Bunny is making a special run to nine of Mississippi’s State Parks to hide some Easter eggs especially for his favorite kiddos to hunt and find.
Now, some people say that the Big Bunny’s favorite two parks in this state are Cossar State Park, located along the shores of beautiful Enid Lake, and Trace State Park, near Tupelo, Mississippi. The proof for this statement revolves around the fact that the Easter Bunny came to these two parks first (last weekend on April 12) to hide some eggs.
But in case you missed out on those “eggciting” hunts, the rest of us know that the dear ol’ Easter Bunny saved his biggest and best efforts for last – which is why he has seven Easter Egg hunts planned for parks across the state this weekend, April 18-19. Those seven hunts will take place at:
- Legion State Park on April 18, 2025, near Louisville, Mississippi
- Roosevelt State Park on April 19, 2025, near Morton, Mississippi
- Percy Quin State Park on April 19, 2025, near McComb, Mississippi
- Tombigbee State Park on April 19, 2025, near Tupelo, Mississippi
- Paul B. Johnson State Park on April 19, 2025, near Hattiesburg, Mississippi
- Lake Lincoln State Park on April 19, 2025, near Wesson, Mississippi
- Hugh White State Park on April 19, 2025, near Grenada, Mississippi.
Each of these “eggstrodinary” hunts will take place at various times, so check the official website of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks for details. Also, note that some hunts require regular admission to that specific park, while others are free through the sponsorship of local churches and civic organizations.
Whatever the case, the beloved Easter Bunny lovingly invites the children of Mississippi to bring their Easter baskets and come to one of his Easter Egg Hunts this weekend. He cannot wait to see how many eggs each child finds and how much everyone enjoys the beauty of his very favorite state in the union – Mississippi.
