In Memoriam: Remembering Raymond Tanner
It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Raymond Tanner, a beloved figure in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College community, who passed away on October 28, 2023, at the age of 74.

Last December a special wreath-laying ceremony took place at Magnolia Cemetery on Mill Street in Lucedale. Another such event is planned this year and the number of wreaths could surpass the number laid last year.
French pot au feu and cassslutte come to mind as well, but perhaps the best example is French onion soup. When there is no stew meat to be had, nor a tough old chicken, a few onions, a left over bone to make stock from, can be turned into a wonderful, hearty soup, French onion soup. This soup dates from medieval times, but the modern version seems to have first been made in the mid-19th century.
Employees of Jackson County Tax Collector’s Office Using Halloween to Raise Money for Animal Shelter
Over the years, employees at the Jackson County Tax Collector’s Office have traditionally dressed up for Halloween. This year, they are continuing that tradition, but with a twist – they will be dressing up as animals to bring awareness to the needs at the Jackson County Animal Shelter located in Gautier, MS.
The Halloween season is about to get a lot more spooky, frightfully fabulous, and fun this weekend on the Gulf Coast as the city of Ocean Springs will be overtaken by a bevy of merry-making witches and warlocks. On Oct. 28, the Witches Ride of Ocean Springs will roll through the downtown district, bringing plenty of excitement and Halloween fun you do not want to miss.
