For the sixth consecutive fall semester, The University of Southern Mississippi’s Sport Management program partnered with the New Orleans Pelicans on the team’s Collegiate Sales Project—an experiential learning initiative that immerses students in the professional sport sales industry.

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State is honoring the legacy of the late Martin Luther King Jr. with a Unity Dinner, sponsored by the Division of Access, Opportunity and Success. This formal event for invited guests Friday [Jan. 16] at The Mill Conference Center features live performances and opportunities for Starkville residents and MSU leaders to come together.

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM), through its Thad Cochran Marine Aquaculture Center (TCMAC), continues to expand its leadership in sustainable aquaculture through a new partnership with the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center (LMDC). Together with Symbiotic, LLC and the GULF BLUE Initiative, the organizations will unveil a hands-on public education installation, Aquaponics in Action, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan. 13 at 3 p.m.

From the Griswolds to the Grinch, just about every holiday movie features characters cutting, decorating or stealing the perfect Christmas tree. But most people—including moviegoers—don’t consider that Christmas trees take work to cultivate. Like all trees, they are subject to the threats of disease, insects, fungi and other menaces. This is why scientists in Mississippi State’s Forest and Wildlife Research Center have been studying some of the most popular tree species that decorate homes for the holidays.
