Many people are turning to the kitchen as a way of dealing with being inside for so long. If you havenโ€™t noticed, social media is flooded with images of the creative things people are doing.

Mississippi State again is being recognized by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching for excellent integration of community engagement with university teaching and learning strategies. The Carnegie Foundation announced Jan. 31 that MSU is receiving the 2020 Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, an endorsement which is valid until 2026.

On Saturday, March 7, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Junior Auxiliary of Gulfport will host the second annual โ€œBeach Day at the Wheel Wayโ€ at the Long Beach Harbor. This free event brings the community together to support children with disabilities and their families. Attendees will enjoy activities the whole family can enjoy, live entertainment and light refreshments, all provided by support from local businesses.

Well, we had quite a day at the Pascagoula Kiwanis Club on January 21. The long-time local civic club held a Past Presidents Day to honor those who had served in that capacity over the years, and it was a wonderful moment for those guys and gals, as well as for the club itself.

With a chill in the air, it’s easy to tell that the holidays are upon us. To help usher the holly, jolly season in, the Pine Belt Holiday Expo and Christmas Market will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the historic train depot in downtown Hattiesburg.

The holiday season is upon us and far too many home cooks panic just at the thought. But, if you take the time to organize your holiday get together, like a professional chef would, it will be easy-peasy.

The 13th Annual Historic Cemetery Tour, coordinated by the Jackson County Historical and Genealogical Society, will take place at the Krebs Cemetery in Pascagoula on Thursday, Oct 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. As in the past, historical figures from the area will be portrayed by local actors, and the La Pointe-Krebs Museum will be available for viewing.
