OK, I may be opening a proverbial can of worms or Pandora’s Box, but I am going to do it anyway. Should be fun. Here goes. What burning questions do you have about something in or about nature that I may be able to write about? In other words, what are your Qu’est Que C’ests.

Basketball season is in full swing throughout Mississippi, with high school team rankings getting more serious as the season winds down. But amid these heated high school competitions, even the best basketball fans across the Magnolia State often overlook the hard work, dedication, and pure excitement of Mississippi’s younger middle school athletes. 

Mardi Gras parades and celebrations are about to begin in the Magnolia State, uniting Mississippians from all corners of the state. Although Mardi Gras is traditionally more recognized in the southern part of the state, Mississippians will be excited to see some celebrations scheduled in North Mississippi, too. From the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast to Olde Town Olive Branch and many towns in between, Mississippi is ready to “Laissez les bons temps rouler!”

Fried rice balls, arancini, may not sound very interesting, but the folks in Sicily turned this simple idea into something pretty wonderful. Arancini are made with leftover risotto, formed into balls, and stuffed with almost anything you might think of, and then fried crispy brown, so that they look like little oranges, thus the name, arancini and they are a delight. 

Over the past two years, a nature-based park arose in the City of Moss Point. The recipe for how the park was built is a story of the people of the community – a mixture of young and old, who got their hands dirty. Contractors built the larger elements (parking, fence, pier), but volunteers did the rest.
