Native Son Farm is one of northeast Mississippi’s best treasures. Ironically, it’s also somewhat of a hidden treasure to many of the countless people who come to Tupelo, Mississippi, each week for shopping and entertainment purposes.
But in 2010, Tupelo was exactly where native son Will Reed, his wife Amanda, and their family started a naturally grown farm that they envisioned as becoming the center of an entire community of neighbors. They hoped this potential community would benefit both nutritionally and economically from Native Farm’s high-quality organic produce.

In the 15 years since the Reeds began turning their dream into reality, their passion for sustainable agriculture has successfully brought together other like-minded Mississippi farms and businesses, while creating a loyal and appreciative customer base at their beautiful farmstand located in the heart of Tupelo at 3811 Mount Vernon Road.
Interestingly, a large part of the team working at Native Son Farm started out as customers of the farmstand. It is no wonder, because there is no such thing as one visit to Native Son Farm. The delicious variety of produce and products for sale at the store (along with the hospitality of the knowledgeable employees) create loyal and loving customers.

The addition of an on-site kitchen was just another reason to keep customers coming back. According to the Native Son website, visitors will find a variety of breads, cookies, muffins, cakes, and pies, as well as some gluten-free treats for sale. Of course, the daily selection of available goods depends on the current season’s produce.
Throughout the year, the stand also offers a selection of “take & bake” items, such as quiches, lasagna, scones, and much more. Or, for instant enjoyment, they also provide a few “grab & go” goodies, such as wraps, salads, and breads.

Beyond the taste experience, each visit truly is a learning experience as well. In fact, learning is a huge part of the original Native Son mission statement of “farming with passion.” That passion centers on the belief in “the simple life, getting back to our roots and helping others do the same.”
Consequently, their farm-to-table business is a 52-week adventure for the Reeds, a constant process, involving “extensive use of high tunnels, cover crops, and cutting-edge organic methods, combined with many tried-and-true practices of the past,” in order to produce the “freshest and most nutrient-dense” produce possible for its customers. But it’s not just a business; it’s a way of life for the folks at Native Son Farm – a delicious and healthy life they strive to share with others.

So, take a look at their website (https://www.nativesonfarm.com/), and then stop by for a visit to their beautiful farmstand. Make sure to take a tour of the farm before grabbing some of the tasty fruits, vegetables, and other products they offer.
I can guarantee that it will be the first of many trips to Native Son Farm.
