Outreach and growth are a great way to describe both the personal and professional life of Jerica Hudson, vice president of growth and community for Singing River Federal Credit Union.
Mrs. Hudson is a native of Jackson County and became a member of the credit union when she was a teenager. Her career focus has always been in marketing, and when a position opened at her hometown location, she said she jumped at the chance.
“In my job I seek out all opportunities for SRFCU to be involved in our communities, sponsorships, businesses and school districts and offer financial literacy classes to students and adults,” Mrs. Hudson said. “I am always looking for ways for us to grow through our locations, ATM placements, partnerships and through service.”
She has worked with the credit union for the past 11 years and says there is never enough time in the day to do all the things she has planned.
“I love working with in our communities and being creative by cultivating new partnerships for SRFCU through lasting relationships,” she said. “Our in-school branches and school partnerships allow me to stay in touch with our next generation.
“I love learning from the ideas of our next generation and collaborating with them to produce great things. It’s all about relationships and I’m glad to be a part of creating new ideas, new plans, and relationships to grow SRFCU & improve our communities.”
And the connection to the next generation continues at home where she and her husband, David have a blended family with five children that range in age from 3 years old to 25 and are a registered foster family. Her husband, Coach Hudson, is a varsity football coach and teacher at East Central High School, and their oldest daughter, Natalie and her husband are expecting their first child.
“We grew our family this past year when we adopted our 3-year-old son from foster care after having him since he was four months old,” she said. “Our son, Michael, is student who is also coaching football at Ole Miss, our daughter, Nevaeh, cheers at University of South Alabama, and our daughter, Marlee, is 11 is in the 5th grade and loves playing piano.”
JaKari is in preschool, and she said she is excited to begin stepping into grandparent life.
With such an active professional life and huge responsibilities in her professional life, she said she manages her time and calendar with “lots of prayer.”
“I say that jokingly, but it’s surely true. Sometimes we say it’s our very own circus, but our family is also our biggest blessing,” Mrs. Hudson said. “We work together and try to stay as organized as possible.”
She said her personality type is also beneficial for her big-top life.
“In both my home and professional life, I benefit from being a “go with the flow” & “get it done” type person,” she said. “Most importantly, we put God first in all we do, and we know HE is the reason we can make it all work.”
