    On Saturday, Dec. 16, you are cordially invited to attend the Cadence Bank Cookie Stroll in downtown Laurel.

    The Downtown District is excited to bring some “Christmas Magic” for everyone to enjoy during this joyous season. The event is after hours, but it is family-friendly. The Cookie Stroll is described as being a “last-minute Christmas shopping recipe for Christmas joy.” Whether you need to pick up a few last-minute presents, are looking for something extra special for that special someone in life, or simply just want to enjoy the holiday joy and excitement in the air, there is no doubt that this will be an enchanted evening.

    Many of the merchants will be offering later hours for you to do some down-to-the-wire shopping or browsing, but the sweetest part of the ventures into these businesses will be the opportunity to enjoy multiple kinds of specialty Christmas cookies. You’ll for sure be in the Christmas spirit as you get to sample a variety of delicious delights. Plus, you’ll be even more delighted by the deals, specials, and other promotions that the downtown stores will be offering during this special night.

    There are so many events that will keep the whole family entertained. You’ll be treated to an evening of Christmas magic downtown. There will be lovely carols and Christmas songs performed by special singers and musicians in the Trustmark Art Park. Carolers bringing songs of joy and cheer will be strolling through the historic area, delighting busy shoppers with sounds of Christmas joy.

    For an endearing look at the true meaning of Christmas, there will be a live Nativity held at The Rusty Chandelier. Experience the wonder of that magical night so many years ago in Bethlehem. It will be a presentation that is sure to touch every heart. For a very special treat for couples or the whole family, there will be carriage rides by Cloverleaf Carriage. You’ll feel as if you’ve stepped into your own Christmas Hallmark movie as take a special ride through the beautifully decorated and lighted downtown district.

    While you’re at the Cookie Stroll, you simply must make at stop at The Remnant where you can enjoy Cookies for a Cause, and you’ll be delighted by the live readings of some well-loved Christmas classic children’s books. Plus, the youngsters or young ones at heart will even get to take a picture with the man of the hour himself Santa Claus. The little ones will be excited to whisper their Christmas wishes in Old Saint Nick’s ear. There will be even more surprises and special moments planned for everyone to enjoy on this very fun evening. Also, don’t forget to bring a blanket or two as you cuddle up to enjoy some favorite Christmas movies on the big screen at Wilson’s Commissary.

    This marks the inaugural event that is sure to become a holiday tradition for Laurel’s historic downtown area and for many families throughout the years. The Cadence Bank Cookie Stroll is sure to promote special evenings of shopping and dining in this lovely small-town destination. It is sure to be an evening filled with holiday memories that will be cherished forever.

    So don’t miss out on this special evening of holiday fun for the whole community from 5 pm to 8 pm on December 16. It will surely be an unforgettable event filled with lots of holiday spirit and joy.
