There is something special about ringing a Salvation Army Bell during the holidays. As a volunteer Bell-Ringer, I am always inspired by the thoughtfulness of those that make their way to the kettle to deposit whatever they have to give. Whether it is a folded bill or a handful of change, the spirit of giving is apparent in her or his own way.

Turkeys and hams grab the spotlight on our holiday tables, and perhaps that’s as it should be. A few folks might go for a Christmas goose, or even a round of beef, but who gives serious attention to the sides? I do and I hope you do too.

Take a step back in time and enjoy a Victorian Christmas in Hattiesburg, Dec. 14 to 15. Partnering with Visit Mississippi, the Historic Hattiesburg Neighborhood welcomes everyone to enjoy an elegant Christmas of years past at the 43rd Annual Victorian Candlelit Christmas. The Hub City will light up as the city takes part in the Downtown Candlelit Christmas, and there is sure to be something for everyone in the family to enjoy this weekend full of activities.
