Blue Mother Tupelo band recently took the stage at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center in Ocean Springs for the 66th Songs & Stories.
Each month the stage is lit, and the auditorium is packed with music fans as the sounds of local talent fill the air for an hour-long free concert.
Blue Mother Tupelo, made up of husband and wife in Ricky and wife Micol (pronounced “Michael”) Davis, delivered an evening filled with energy, passion, and wonderful original songs. The couple met back in 1995, and their sweet upbeat lyrics and sounds flow as they belong together. The auditorium cheered for them the entire show, even demanding an encore.
As you probably have come to realize, live music is so precious these days. This event offers musicians a platform to share stories about their lives and provide details about their songs and the music business, as well as a chance to perform.
Blue Mother Tupelo spoke about playing a Paul Anka song “Put Your Head on My Shoulder,” and how they turned it into their own to be used for a movie sound track.
