Spring break is right around the corner, and thousands of Mississippi college students have already started planning their getaways. The great part about going to college in Mississippi is that there are many secret getaways right here within the state. If you’re planning your spring break, here are five in-state options to consider.

    Bay St. Louis

This coastal city is known for its great view of the beach, exceptional food, and kind locals. Whether you want to relax by the water, explore charming boutiques, or enjoy fresh seafood, Bay St. Louis offers a laid-back (yet lively) atmosphere that is perfect for a spring break escape.

    Madison

Did you know that Madison, MS, ranks as one of the best places to live in the state? It has plenty to offer, including beautiful parks, upscale shopping, and relaxing environment. Madison is a great option for those looking for a quiet, enjoyable getaway. If you’re in the mood for a day trip, you can also explore nearby attractions.

    Ocean Springs

Another great coastal town for those looking for a beachside spring break is Ocean Springs. This quaint town encompasses coastal southern charm. Filled with art galleries, fine dining, and a vibrant nightlife, Ocean Springs has the perfect attractions for a memorable spring break. The smell of fresh seafood and the beach will linger in your mind for years to come.

    Tupelo

We all know that Tupelo is the birthplace of world-renowned Rock and Roll singer, Elvis Presley. However, did you know that you can visit the house he was raised in? If you’re an Elvis fan, you’ll definitely want to find yourself in Tupelo this spring break. Besides the Elvis Presley home, Tupelo boasts many other attractions such as their popular local restaurants and bars.

    Natchez

For all of the college students majoring in history, Natchez is where you should be this spring break. Overlooking the Mississippi River, this city is full of stunning antebellum homes— many of which have been turned into cozy bed-and-breakfasts! Take a riverboat tour and visit some of the scenic trails. A trip here will be both memorable and educational. Bonus points if you write an essay about everything you learned during your trip!

    Endless Destination Possibilities

No matter what kind of spring break trip you’re looking for, Mississippi has plenty of hidden gems to explore. Whether it’s the beach, history, or a peaceful retreat, these cities offer something for everyone without having to leave the state. What Mississippi city do you recommend visiting for spring break?
