Ocean Springs kicks off September with the Labor Day Art Walk. If you enjoy art, music and good food this time of year is always the best time to be out and about on the MS Coast.

Saturday, September 2nd starting at 10am the tree-lined streets of Downtown Ocean Springs will be closed to cars and packed with local artists. Join the Labor Day Art Walk as artists and merchants show-off their specialty items. Come meet the artists and be inspired. There will be plenty of new works; expect paintings, pottery, glassware and hand-crafted art.

Early birds can visit the Ocean Springs Fresh Market opening at 9am at the Train Depot. The weekly market is a great spot to purchase fresh fruits and vegetable, local honey, plants and more.

Downtown businesses will be ready for the festival! There are many regular favorite restaurants to stop-in for a meal and a cold cocktail. This year, there are a few new places you might like to visit. The newly built Murky Waters Blues & BBQ, just down the road from their old location. The construction is completed and it is an elegantly designed larger restaurant with a full stage for live music, same great food and fun just in a bigger space.

Also consider stopping into the recently remodeled LaFitte’s at Porter (previously Twin Fins Surf Bar), located on the corner of Porter Ave and Washington Ave. It is always nice to relax on the outside deck, but now they offer a new bar in the backroom with more indoor space. Bring the party inside, you are invited to party like a pirate with their new drink menu.

And, for all you ice cream lovers, Kilwins Ocean Springs has opened at 711 Washington Ave, across from the intersection of Government Street. Kilwins is famous across the nation for delicious ice cream, fresh fudge and fine chocolates. It is delightful to have another new business in the downtown, come in and satisfy that sweet tooth.

The family fun will be all day. There sure will be something for everyone at the Labor Day Art Walk in Downtown Ocean Springs. Hope to see you there.
