Natural Science Museum – Jackson
Centered around a Jefferson Ground Sloth fossil, which is, in my opinion, one of the more intriguing prehistoric animals (Heck, it was a 2,000 lb. sloth that roamed parts of the United States, including Mississippi), the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science in Jackson is a worth a visit. This museum takes you through the different kinds of waterbodies that the state has to offer (featuring all kinds of wildlife from alligators to massive catfish), plus it usually has a pretty cool special exhibit, such as the current “Monster Fish” exhibit. After you finish going through the museum, you can spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the nature trails that sit right behind the museum.
