The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will be hosting their Mississippi Gulf Coast: Out of the Darkness Walk on Saturday, September 16. 

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Jackson County Campus will host a health fair on September 20, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., in the campus gymnasium. 

The Ocean Springs Lions Club and the Ocean Springs Fire Department are hosting a free event to commemorate events on Sept 11, 2001, to salute first responders and to collect donations of survivors of Hurricane Harvey.

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Blues and Heritage Festival is back to celebrate 26 years of blues, good food and a great time this weekend. 

Members of the Ocean Springs School District Cabinet provided breakfast for their bus drivers, other transportation department employees, and members of the OSSD Police  Department to say thanks for the job they do every day. 

It’s an understatement to say Jackson County is full of cheerful givers. Since last week’s conception of the “#floodbucketchallenge” an outpouring of generosity from businesses and individuals has created a viral movement on Facebook.

Operation BBQ Relief is lifting spirits of those affected by Hurricane Harvey with delicious BBQ cooked by The Shed. 

Some of the major needs for Texas victims right now are bottled water, and cleaning supplies. Drop your flood buckets off at any of these locations.

Ocean Springs has been selected to receive a $30,000 play space grant from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and The Walt Disney Company.

Hurricane Harvey continues to strengthen in the western Gulf of Mexico and is expected to land as the nation’s first Category 3 landfall in almost 12 years.
