Summer is quickly approaching. The weather is getting warmer. Teachers and students are eager to enjoy a summer of fun. One of the most popular activities for American children is attending a summer camp. The connections made at summer camps can last a lifetime. Thankfully, Mississippi has summer camps for every type of student and interest. Whether your child is interested in learning more about their religious beliefs or if they want to improve their skills within a specific area, you can always find a camp here, in Mississippi, where your child will belong. Keep reading for five interesting summer camps, right here in Magnolia State, that your children are sure to love!

Active Learning: Chess, Minecraft, and Game Maker Video Game Creation Camps

If your child is interested in any of the above topics, you’ll definitely want to look into this summer camp. Their summer camp takes place in Ridgeland, but they have a winter camp that is in Spring, Texas. Children aged between five and sixteen years old can sign up for this interesting camp. From chess games to video design, Active Learning will keep your children engaged this summer. You can learn more about them here.

    Science Scholars Camp

Calling all scientists! If your child is interested in learning more about all things scientific, this is the camp you want to enroll them in. This camp is in Starkville at Mississippi State University’s campus. In this camp, they can expect to learn about agricultural and food science, agricultural technologies, biomedical engineering, and promoting overall health amongst other fun topics. For more updates about the dates, visit their website here, which gives information about last year’s camp.

    Camp Hopewell

With a mission to empower people and connect with God, Camp Hopewell is a great camp for those who want to explore fun activities while developing a relationship with God. If your child is between Pre-K through 9th grade (completed), they can sign up to attend the camp. You can find more information about their program here.

    Saints Summer Experience

2024 will be their 75th year of having their annual summer camp. With the help of staff and faculty from St. Andrew’s in Jackson, this camp continues to foster an environment where children can learn while having fun, as they connect with their peers. They welcome students with a wide variety of backgrounds and beliefs, as this is a core element of their Episcopal faith and mission. If you have school-aged children, you’ll want to register them in this camp. Additional details can be found here.

    Camp Invention

Located in Horn Lake, Camp Invention is for children aged kindergarten through sixth grade. This summer camp is STEM-related.
