One of Columbus’s most anticipated summer traditions is back and brighter than ever. Fireworks on the Water will take place on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the Stennis Lock & Dam East Bank,
offering an unforgettable evening of family fun, live music, and a dazzling fireworks display over the water.
Presented by Visit Columbus in partnership with Lowndes County, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the City of Columbus, and the 14th Flying Training Wing, the event brings the community together to celebrate the season with patriotic spirit and Southern hospitality.
“This event is a highlight of our summer and a wonderful way to celebrate our community,” said Frances Glenn, tourism director for the Columbus-Lowndes Convention & Visitors Bureau. “With food, music, and fireworks all set against the backdrop of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, it’s a night you won’t want to miss.”
This year, a special flyover by aircraft from the 14th Flying Training Wing will take place ahead of the fireworks show, offering a thrilling and patriotic salute to our nation’s military, and giving attendees a rare and exciting opportunity to witness the precision and power of America’s airmen in action.
Gates open at 5 p.m., welcoming guests to enjoy a variety of local food trucks in a festive atmosphere. Children’s activities are complimentary, making it a fun and affordable evening for the whole family. As the sun sets, the sky will come alive with a spectacular fireworks show at dark, lighting up the river and reflecting the joy and pride of the Columbus community.
The event also honors the men and women currently serving our country, as well as our veterans, in a show of appreciation for their dedication and sacrifice.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Parking and entry are free, and attendees are advised to arrive early to secure the best viewing spots.
Fireworks on the Water is more than a show — it’s a celebration of community, country, and the connections that bring us together on the banks of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway.
