Mississippi is “Nature’s Playground” and it’s home to some of the best-kept secrets in ecotourism.

For residents living on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, eating oysters in months that end in “R” is a tradition, except this past year when the oyster population was nearly destroyed due to the intrusion of fresh water in the Gulf of Mexico. In celebration of the natural connection between birding and photography, the Pascagoula River Audubon Center will host the 2019 Audubon Photography Awards Traveling Exhibition at 5107 Arthur Street between January 8 and January 29. Visitors of all ages will enjoy a display of the winning photos as well as learn more about local birdlife in Moss Point. Reproductions of the winning photos will be available for sale.
