Over 4,800 people attended the successful grand opening of The Sound Amphitheater on Friday, April 12. The $8 million state-of-the-art venue, a cornerstone of the Town Commons Project, significantly impacts both the City of Gautier and the broader Coastal region both economically and culturally.

“This Grand Opening is a pivotal moment that will forever change the City of Gautier and the Coastal region for the better,” said Paula Yancey, Gautier City Manager. “It takes a team to make a dream come true. I am truly honored to have been a part of the team that made this dream a reality.”

The evening’s festivities commenced with a palpable sense of anticipation as community members gathered to witness the ribbon-cutting ceremony and inaugural performances. As the Resurrection Choir and the Gautier High School Choir and Band, comprised of talented young performers, took the stage, their impressive display of talent and passion captivated the audience and showcased the potential of the future generation.

The highlight of the evening was an unforgettable performance by KC and The Sunshine Band, setting the stage for countless memorable experiences to come.

The Sound Amphitheater’s importance extends far beyond its role as a premier entertainment venue; it represents a beacon of hope and opportunity for the community, signaling a new era of growth and prosperity.

“We are thrilled with the overwhelming success of The Sound Amphitheater’s grand opening. The turnout and enthusiasm from the community exceeded our expectations,” said Nathan Baugh, CEO of Peachtree Entertainment. “As we look ahead, we’re excited about The Sound Amphitheater’s economic impact on Gautier. With more visitors attending events, we anticipate increased spending across local businesses, fostering economic growth and prosperity in the city. The venue isn’t just about entertainment; it’s about driving positive change for Gautier.”

Moving forward, The Sound Amphitheater will continue to elevate Gautier’s cultural landscape with an impressive lineup of musical acts. Upcoming performances include:

    • April 19, 2024: Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, North Mississippi Allstars

    • May 24, 2024: Justin Moore, Chris Cagle, Tyler Braden
    • August 4, 2024: Dirty Heads x Slightly Stoopid, Common Kings, The Elovaters
    • August 16, 2024: Lauren Daigle
    • September 6, 2024: Sam Hunt
    • September 27, 2024: Miranda Lambert
    • September 28, 2024: Melissa Etheridge x Jewel

With each event, The Sound will draw visitors from near and far, injecting new life into the local economy and establishing Gautier as a cultural hub along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
