I have to admit it, I have a thing for dive bars. They are normally local hang outs, with lots of local color. My current favorite is the Cash Alley Garage in Ocean Springs. It has a 1970s inspired atmosphere and serious comfort food. When you get the a hankering for good and a cool atmosphere, this is the place to go.
I was at my evening hangout a few months ago, Lost Spring and decided it was time to visit the Garage, so I walked around the corner to Porter Avenue and there it was. I walked in and when I saw a thick cut, fried baloney sandwich on the menu I knew I was in the right place. And it was delicious, but much more than I could eat.

They describe their menu as street eats and cocktails. There is a lot to like on this menu, but the highlight just might be the nine hot dog variations, including the Come Back Dog, made with the famous Delta come back sauce, pork belly, pepper jack cheese, grilled onions. Also take a look at the campfire dawg, Bacon Jam dawg, and the corn dawg. Loaded totchos are also a highlight, tater tots (I didn’t know tater tots were called totchos) with toppings wilk BBQ sauce, pulled pork, beer cheese, and candied jalapenos. There’s chicken on a stick and a lunch board of sausage, boiled peanuts, tatter tots or fried wings, spam sticks, sliders, deviled egg salad, the bandit breakfast (with pork belly, eggs and comeback sauce). Another favorite is the Diablo pull fried pork, with Royale Crown (RC) BBQ sauce and sweet fried pickles on Toast. Specials include catfish and chips, loaded nachos, Garage wings, sliders, pork belly BLT. The inside dining area has garage-like doors, so when weather permits, it becomes a very open space. The outside dining area is decorated with hanging umbrellas, providing a very festive atmosphere.
The Garage is a very cool place to hang out on a lazy afternoon.
