    Christmas is Over–What’s Next?

Christmas has passed, and we have less than a week left before we take on a new year. Sometimes, those few days between Christmas and the New Year can be slightly (or very much so) confusing and can feel blurry. Do we take our Christmas decorations down or leave them up for a bit longer? Do we start wishing people a happy New Year now, or is it too early? There are many questions surrounding this time of year; however, here are five actions you can take to finish off the old year and prepare for the new one.

    Reflect on the Year

The saying “hindsight is always 20/20” reigns true, specifically during this time of year. Taking time to reflect on the year is a great way to do an audit of your life to see what went well, what didn’t, and what you would like to change going forward.

    Set Goals

Speaking of reflection, setting goals is a great way to enter into the new year. One of great things about goal setting is that your goals are so unique to your own life. Goals can be set for work, your business, your health, or for networking. Goals can also be set for personal, internal growth. One fun goal to set is to write down three Mississippi cities you’ve never visited before and make plans to visit them. Make sure you take pictures along the way to document your adventures!

    Deep Cleaning

I know we usually think about “spring cleaning” when we think of a yearly deep cleanup; however, the end of the year is another wonderful time to clean your abode. Try donating or giving away any clothing items you did not wear much this year. You can also give away any decor, candles, or other items you have not used in a long time.

    Clear Your Electronic Clutter

With the busyness of life, it becomes easy to forget to check your emails and messages. Take a few hours to clear out any old emails you haven’t opened, respond to any important messages, unsubscribe from any email lists you haven’t checked in a while, and delete old apps that you don’t use anymore.

    Book Appointments

Although plans change throughout the year, this time of the year is the best time to start booking your appointments for 2025. From primary care visits, to specialities, to dental, and more, make sure you schedule these appointments now. This will also ensure that you can schedule your visits at times that are most convenient for you.

    Gaining Clarity

With only a few days left before 2025 makes its entrance, we may find ourselves getting lost in the blur of it all. By incorporating these actions into the last few days of the year, you may find it easier to obtain clarity on what you desire for the upcoming year, as well as find a bit more stability in the seemingly confusing nature of the days in between Christmas and the New Year. With this in mind, have a happy New Year, Mississippians!
