Jackson, MS…The Mississippi Museum of Art (MMA/the Museum) today confirmed its acquisition of Fountainhead, the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed property in Jackson’s Fondren neighborhood following approval by the Jackson Planning and Zoning Board and City Council. The residence and its furnishings were designed by the renowned architect in 1948, and completed in 1954 for J. Willis Hughes, who lived in the home with his family until 1980.

The nation’s oldest singing Christmas tree tradition began at Belhaven University, and this year marks the 93rd performance of the Belhaven University Singing Christmas Tree.

The University of Southern Mississippi’s Art and Design Program will host the 2025 Iron Pour on Saturday, Nov. 22, at the 3D Arts Building on the Hattiesburg campus, located at 2905 W. Fourth St. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a hot metal pour scheduled for 2 p.m.

When I first moved to Summit in December of 2024, one of the very first places people told me about was The Happy Easel. As a mom, I was immediately intrigued — my kids have always loved art. The Alcorn State University Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite was selected to perform in the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, representing the state of Mississippi. This monumental opportunity will provide unparalleled national exposure to the historically Black, land-grant University and is a life-changing moment for the student musicians. It all started with Dr. Everson Martin, the director of bands at Alcorn State University, who had a vision to put Alcorn on the national stage.

The de Grummond Children’s Literature Collection at The University of Southern Mississippi is thrilled to announce its receipt of a bequest from Diana Klemin, longtime art director at Doubleday and friend of the de Grummond. Included in this bequest are three unpublished picture book manuscripts illustrated by Andy Warhol, as well as dozens of originals and prints Warhol gifted to Klemin.

McComb, MS — The Pike County Arts Council invites the community to an evening of music, nostalgia, and talent as they present Nights to Remember: A Love Letter to Stage and Screen on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 7:00 PM. The event will take place at the historic State Theatre, located at 222 State Street in downtown McComb.

A short film by Shrijal Thapa, a student in The University of Southern Mississippi’s Theatre program, housed in the School of Performing and Visual Arts (SPVA), has been selected for three major festivals in Los Angeles—Independent Shorts Awards, Hollywood Discovery Awards and Indie Short Fest—earning him multiple awards and nominations, including a Gold Award for Best Original Score.

The Mississippi Tourism Association recognized the impact and accomplishments of the state’s tourism industry at its annual Tourism Awards Program, held during the Governor’s Conference on Tourism at the Vicksburg Convention Center in Vicksburg, Oct. 1-3. The annual educational and professional development event brought together approximately 250 tourism industry professionals from across the state, as well as tourism partners from the surrounding region.

When one walks into the Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs, the odds are that they will immediately be met by the museum’s own Ginny Garlotte. A native of D’Iberville, Mississippi and long-time patron of the arts, Garlotte is not only the face of visitor services and inquiries at the front desk of WAMA, but she is also one of the Gulf Coast’s most humble visual artists. A well-read and passionate researcher,  Garlotte has created a theme of artwork that is both strong in beauty and amusement.  

The University of Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra will open its 106th season on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mannoni Performing Arts Center on the Hattiesburg campus. The season, titled American Perspectives, features music in celebration of America’s 250th birthday, under the direction of Music Director Gregory Wolynec.

Every Thursday in October, the heart of downtown McComb comes alive with music, food, and community spirit. The Pike County Arts Council is once again hosting NoonTunes, a free concert series held in the courtyard of the historic Palace Theater.
