Pearl River County youths can help shape the look of this year’s county fair through a contest to design the fair book cover.

The contest is organized by the Pearl River County Fair and Rodeo Committee for the county’s 81st annual fair and rodeo.

The fair book serves as a guide for the Pearl River County Fair and Rodeo, which will be held Sept. 14-19 at the city fairgrounds in Poplarville.

The contest is open to Pearl River County youths ages 8-18. Event organizers require the design to include the date, location and title, “81st Annual Pearl River County Fair and Livestock Show.”

The design has no specific restrictions, with event organizers describing the contest as “open for interpretation.”

“The design can be whatever you want to do,” event organizers said.

The first-place winner’s artwork will be featured on the front cover and receive a $50 prize. The second-place winner’s design will be featured on the back cover and receive a $25 prize.

The entry deadline is June 12. Entries can be submitted at the Pearl River County Extension Service Office, 835 Highway 26 W., in Poplarville.

Questions can be directed to the Pearl River County Extension Service Office by calling 601-403-2280.
