Tupelo, Mississippi, the hometown of Elvis Presley, is the perfect weekend getaway! Nestled up in the northeastern part of the state, Tupelo is the only city in the southern United States to be named an “All America City.” Not once, but five times! With good reason too! Check out the top twelve things to do in Tupelo, and see why Southern Living selected it as Mississippi’s town for “The South’s Most Storied Streets.”

    1) The birthplace of Elvis Presley. Take the opportunity to visit the small, two room home that the King of Rock and Roll grew up in. Swing on his front porch swing, and visit the neighboring museum.

    2) Downtown Tupelo. Walk around in the heart of Tupelo and enjoy the many hand-painted murals on downtown buildings. Look for the different guitar silhouettes that line main street, and follow the path of Elvis’s blue suede shoes, by looking for blue footprints on the sidewalks. There is something to see on every square foot of Tupelo’s charming downtown.

    3) Dine with the locals! Tupelo’s local restaurant scene is incredible. There’s something for everyone, and you’ll surely be served with a smile!

    4) Have your cake and eat it too! After you eat at a local restaurant, make sure you grab some dessert or coffee from two of Tupelo’s most popular establishments. Crave, located downtown offers a variety of delicious baked goods sure to satisfy the sweetest sweet tooth. Strange Brew, a coffee house, converted from a vintage service station is known for its delicious, house-made brew, and grab-and-go treats. Don’t leave Tupelo without going to both of these local gems!

    5) Experience the Tupelo Cocktail Trail, which showcases eight different local cocktail locations and restaurants. Or, relax while sipping award-winning mead at the Queens Reward Meadery.  This locally owned business is proud to be the 1st meadery in Mississippi making award winning wine from MS honey!

    6) Park Hop. Tupelo has several beautiful parks to visit, that promote beauty, history, and an active and healthy lifestyle. Fair Park, Veterans Memorial Park, Ballard Park, Tombigbee Lake State Park, and Gumtree Park offer visitors a variety of scenery.

    7) The Natchez Trace. Walk, hike, or bike the beautiful Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail.

    8) Elvis fans, don’t forget to stop by Tupelo Hardware and stand in the very spot where Gladys Presley bought her son’s first guitar.

    9) Disc Golf. Grab some friends and head out to one of the many disc golf courses around Tupelo. Did you know Tupelo has hosted several professional disc golf championships?

    10) The Tupelo Convention and Visitors Bureau. Learn all there is to know about Tupelo and its place in The American Music Triangle. Be sure to grab a fun and quirky Tupelo t-shirt too!

    11) Check-In to Hotel Tupelo. Hotel Tupelo is the place to stay when visiting King City. The boutique hotel is chic and modern, while also honoring Tupelo’s history, and of course Elvis Presley, through locally curated art and decor.

    12) Make Ceramics at Midnite Pottery. Put your creative cap on and make some pottery at Midnite Pottery! This cozy ceramic studio will allow you to have fun with ceramics, and you can even bring home a handmade souvenir.

Southern charm, mixed with innovation, and modern repurposing makes Tupelo the perfect blend of tradition, culture, and progress. Enjoy your stay!
