Pascagoula Country Club is hosting its first-ever Mistletoe Market this weekend as a way to celebrate the Christmas spirit in the community as well as raise funds to benefit the Jackson County Exceptional School. This will be the first year for the event held at the Pascagoula Country Club, which is now under new management. According to Lara Usher, club coordinator, the country club has a wonderful event space with a beautiful view of the golf course and pool, and “it is the perfect place to host any event in our community.” The Marketplace will be held on Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Dec. 9 from noon to 6 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Local vendors will be on hand during the event with pottery, jewelry, art, home goods and more for sale. There will also be a Jingle Jangle Gift Wrap table where guests can get their gifts wrapped for a donation. Besides the shopping, children are able to watch Christmas movies and participate in Christmas crafts such as making ornaments. There will be door prize winners drawn both days with tickets available for just $1. Refreshments can also be purchased. And, on Saturday, Santa will be available from 1 to 3 p.m. to take photos – a local photographer will be providing picture packages for purchase as well.

“The country club is very family friendly so it was a given that the event would be the same,” Usher said. Usher said there the event is a chance to do something a little different in supporting the Jackson County Exceptional School. They will use the proceeds from the Market to purchase supplies, such as wipes, tissues, paper towels and so on for the school. They plan to get a more extensive list of needed items and present them to the school in January. She said they are also fortunate to have some of their members as well as teenagers from the local Jeune Esprit Social and Service Club volunteering to help with the event.

For more information, contact Lara Usher at (228) 762-1466. There are still vendor spots available for the event. Pascagoula Country Club is located at 2703 Washington Blvd.

Also, you can find the event on Facebook.
