Tucked away in the small town of Collins, Mississippi, Mitchell Farms is the kind of place that reminds you why we love the South so much. It’s not just about the acres of peanuts, produce, and rolling farmland—it’s about family, tradition, and creating memories that stick with you long after you’ve driven back down that dusty country road.

For more than 200 years, the Mitchell family has worked this land. What started as a simple farm has grown into a seasonal attraction that draws visitors from across the state and beyond. And with fall just around the corner, one of their most beloved traditions is almost here: the Mitchell Farms pumpkin patch. From September 27 through November 9, families, friends, and school groups will be flocking to Collins to pick the perfect pumpkin, get lost in the corn maze, and soak up the crisp autumn air. For many Mississippians, this is a timeless tradition—one that feels like fall just wouldn’t be complete without. They’re even booking class field trips now, making it the perfect seasonal outing for students.

In the fall, Mitchell Farms transforms into a wonderland of pumpkins, sunflowers, and wide-open spaces where kids can run and parents can breathe a little deeper. Their famous pumpkin patch and corn maze are the stars of the season, but if you’ve ever been, you know the charm is in the details—like the rustic barn, the tractor rides, and the friendly staff who make you feel like part of the family.

And let’s not forget the peanuts. Mitchell Farms is known for producing some of the best peanuts in Mississippi, and they proudly sell them fresh, roasted, or boiled (and yes, you’ll want to try them all). Their annual Peanut Festival is a beloved event, celebrating both the crop and the community that supports it. It’s the kind of gathering where you’ll see old friends, meet new ones, and leave with both your hands and heart full.

Mitchell Farms isn’t just a farm—it’s an experience, a tradition, and a testament to Mississippi’s agricultural roots. Whether you’re coming for a day of family fun, a taste of the South’s best peanuts, or a photo in the middle of a sunflower field, you’ll leave with a little piece of Collins in your heart. And you’ll probably already be planning your next trip back.
