Get Ready, Mississippi – The 2025 Sales Tax Holiday is Almost Here!

Mississippi shoppers, mark your calendars! The 2025 Sales Tax Holiday is happening next weekend—from Friday, July 11, through Sunday, July 13—giving you a chance to score some serious savings.

During this statewide “tax-free” event, clothing, footwear, and school supplies (including backpacks) priced under $100 per item will be exempt from state sales tax. Keep in mind: your total purchase can exceed $100, as long as each individual item is under the $100 threshold.

This annual event is especially timely as families prepare for the new school year. In fact, students in several Mississippi counties have already returned to class, with others following in the weeks ahead. With school supplies and new clothes adding up quickly, this tax break provides welcome relief for parents across the state.

Prices are higher across the board these days, so take advantage of this opportunity—and remember to support local businesses while you’re at it!

Not prepping for school? This is still the perfect time to jumpstart your holiday shopping or browse for deals just because. Many retailers are offering additional discounts on top of the tax savings, making it a great weekend to explore what’s out there—you never know what you’ll discover!

Plus, Amazon Prime Day is still going strong. The mega-sale event began Tuesday, July 8, and runs through Friday, July 11, making it the longest Prime Day in Amazon history. With overlapping school sales, online promotions, and tax-free shopping, Mississippi consumers are in for a weekend of serious savings.

Prefer to stay cool and skip the crowds? No problem—online purchases of qualifying items are also tax-free during the holiday, as long as orders are placed within the designated window.

So whether you’re shopping for school, the holidays, or just because—it’s a great time to save.
    Happy shopping, Mississippi!
