In February, the season of love is upon us, and Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching. It’s the perfect day to show the people in your life how much they mean to you. Flowers, jewelry, and chocolates are always excellent choices for your Valentine, but if you are looking for some unique date ideas to express your affection to the one that you love, we have a few ideas for you.

Although it might not be considered too original, dinner and a movie is always a great option, especially for Mississippians and music lovers alike. The award-winning movie Elvis is coming back to the theaters just in time for Valentine’s Day. Taking in this amazing movie filled with so much great music from our very Mississippi native, Elvis Presley, would definitely be a special evening.

There is always great entertainment and plenty of delicious dining options at the many casinos along the Gulf Coast. You certainly can’t go wrong with the many selections of locations and restaurants you can choose from.

If you’re looking for something special to make it a Valentine’s Day that your loved one will never forget, a picnic on the beach would definitely be romantic. Add in a few candles, a picnic basket filled with great food and lots of sweets, and you’ll create a very romantic date that you’ll both cherish forever. Plus, if the weather is a little cooler, that gives you even more reason to snuggle up close on this day filled with love.

Start the celebration early by going ice skating at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center or catch a Mississippi Sea Wolves hockey game. If you’re ready to start celebrating the Carnival season, you and your Valentine can catch a Mardi Gras parade. There are plenty of parades and block parties scheduled for this weekend.

If you and your sweetie love the great outdoors, plan a hiking, kayaking, or fishing trip with your loved one at the any of the many great parks and nature retreats in the state. Adventure seeking couples might even like to celebrate their special day with the latest craze of axe throwing at the several locations in Hattiesburg or along the Gulf Coast.

A special getaway trip would bring the smile to anyone’s face. History buffs and couples will love a weekend getaway or special Valentine’s day retreat to the many beautiful historical locations around the state. Natchez is a popular date location for couples to walk along the Mississippi River, stay in a charming bed and breakfast, tour the many historical homes and locations around the city, and end the day watching the sun set over the Mighty Mississippi. Vicksburg and the Delta are also popular destinations for a romantic Valentine’s Day retreat.

Hattiesburg also has lots of great dining and events scheduled for the weekend and Valentine’s Day. A unique and fun experience is the Hot Glass Valentine’s Dinner held at Thomley’s Christmas Tree Farm. Couples get to blow glass and are treated to cutting boards prepared by Patio 44 with meats and vegetables. There will also be dessert from Church Street Cakery and Specialty Coffee served. Plus, there will be live music for couples to dance the night away. The event will be held February 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 of 2023.

Or surprise your loved one with a homecooked meal and enjoy some quiet time together at home. There’s plenty of options to choose from to celebrate love this Valentine’s Day, and any treat would be special as long as you spend the day with the ones that you love.
