Tis’ the Season with Bacot McCarty Foundation

Earlier in November, the Bacot McCarty Foundation joined with the new Bozo’s Too Restaurant, and F.E.B. Distributing to kick off the holiday season with the annual Holiday Shrimp Boil.

During the event, organizers distributed $40,000 to $50,000 in funds to local non-profit agencies. Besides the shrimp provided by Bozo’s owner Keith Delcambre, Tay’s Barbecue also provided food for foundation supporters and non-profit agency heads in attendance.

According to Todd Trenchard, executive director of the Bacot McCarty Foundation, they have hosted the event each year for the past three years to get between 15 and 20 of the non-profit community heads together to help everyone get to know each other a little better and to give away some money.

This year, Trenchard said they were happy to bring the event to Bozos Too as it was many of the attendees first time to see the new Pascagoula restaurant. He added that this is a “homerun for the community.”

“It’s a win, win, win for everything,” Trenchard said. “I think that’s what makes our organization a little different. We’re not asking anybody for money. We’re trying to give it away.”

Catherine Glaud, chief executive officer of Boys and Girls Club of Jackson County, was in attendance at the event and thanked the foundation and Trenchard for bringing the community members together.

“This is very, very important for our small community,” Glaud said. “I always say, ‘We are a small community with the biggest heart here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast,’”

She said that the most important aspect of the event was for the organization leaders to see that they are working together to make the community great.

“That’s why it’s so great – because of leadership like Todd Trenchard and the Bacot McCarty Foundation. They are the lead agencies that keep us all together and stay focused on our community,” she said.
